Super Saturday

We hadn't had an excursion for awhile, so we decided to drive over the mountain to "Sac Town". We really wanted to go to the Sacramento Zoo. Some of the attorneys from Brent's office attended law school in Sacramento, and recommended that we also go to the Folsom City Zoo Santuary because it's a bit more intimate and had a great train ride. We had such a great time. I didn't know much about Folsom (other than the Johnny Cash songs-see picture above), but the Auburn/Folsom area was BEAUTIFUL!!
The Black Bear exhibit (he was HUGE!)

The train really was very cool. The conductor was super nice and even wore overalls and the conductor hat. Jackson was SOOO excited. This was definitely a highlight of the trip. He was so sad when the train ride was "all done". Absolutely, positively worth the $2.00 ticket! (Thanks for the tips, Carla and Mike).
The Folsom City Zoo Santuary takes in animals that have been raised and then rejected as pets, or animals that have been orphaned/injured in the wild. There were hens, roosters, TONS of peacocks, tigers, cougars, bears, horses, pigs, sheep, monkeys and parrots (just to name a few). It was very quaint and we had a great time!
We did make our way to the Sacramento Zoo. To be honest, we were a little disappointed after visiting the Omaha Zoo (sooo incredible) and Disneyworld's Animal Kingdom. However, Jackson had a great time. We saw zebras, giraffes, penguins, snakes, lizards, lions, tigers, an anteater and flamingos, to name a few. We really had a great time. The weather was amazing, and it was just so nice to get away together!

The Omaha Zoo is definitely one of the best in the country! The San
Diego Zoo was pretty good, too (about 25 years ago, at least). I've been to Sacramento Zoo but not to Folsom. Sounds like next time we visit the grandparents in Sacramento, we might need to visit that train!

I see it! I see that cute baby belly! Looks like the zoo was fun. Can't wait for it to be warm enough here to go.

The weather looks GREAT! And when are you due? I swear there can't be a baby in there. You are so teeny tiny. Jackson, on the other hand, is getting so big!
