Vacation 2012
The past semester has been rough. R-O-U-G-H. I had an Independent Studies class (translation-do a complete Literature Review for the dissertation-oh, and don't forget to make it publishable), Univariate Statistics (translation-study EVERY day, two 48 hour take home tests, week-long homework assignments, and phone meetings with the professor), a mid-semester partial thyroidectomy (NO CANCER-HALLELUJAH), oh, and don't forget work, 3 kids, church callings, etc. We were definitely in need of some R and R. We met up with Brent's parents and my PhD BFF Ipuna and her family at Disneyland and had a BLAST!!
We started out at Jeff and Liz' house (Brent's brother and sister-in-law). The kids had sooo much fun seeing the cousins and swimming in the pool. We always have a GREAT time there.
We decided on the spur of the moment to go to La Brea Tar Pits in Los Angeles. Jackson is TOTALLY into prehistoric animals, and he LOVED the exhibits-and the book about prehistoric mammals he got. It was a pretty cool museum.
We had a great time at Disneyland. Ryan was an angel-especially since he only cat-napped. Ryan is the best baby! He only had one major breakdown...which was amazing since we were at Disneyland 4 days and had some late nights.
Catching some Zzzzz's during "It's a Small World".
Such a cutie!
We took Grandma, Grandpa and the kids to breakfast with the princesses. It was pretty exciting for Ashton-who LOVES Ariel. Jackson and Ashton both really had a great time. Another cool thing that happened was Jackson was selected to attend "Jedi Training". It was a very neat experience. He participated in the training and then Darth Vader and Darth Maul appeared. The new Padawans got to fight either Darth Vader or Darth Maul-Jackson fought Darth Maul (who, according to Jackson, is "tougher to defeat than Darth Vader"). He was pretty excited to have completed Jedi training.
Ah, the beach. We LOVE Newport Beach....so much fun.
Summer plans? Oh, those would include Multivariate Stats and Economics of Healthcare...I may need another vacation after summer!!! Is that Lake Tahoe calling?
