Her FIRST Day

It was tough for this little girl to wait for her first day of school. They stagger start the Kindergarten (have 4-5 kids attend at a time), so she had to wait...and wait...and wait some more (complete torture, especially since big brother was going every day). Today was the day! Here is the official FIRST PHOTOGRAPH. Kindergarten, here we come.

Ashton had a fabulous day. She rode her bike, used lots of "jitter glitter" (glitter from the teacher that is supposed to be 'magical' and take away your jitters), loved recess, made new friends, and gets to be the first Student of the Day (they go alphabetically by first names). She is soooo excited. I am so happy that she had a great first day. :-)

Out with the Old...In with the New!

I have A LOT of VERY talented friends. We are talking VERY TALENTED. One of the talents I am very envious of is the ability of certain friends (you know who you are) to refinish furniture. They amaze me. I decided to give it a whirl. I have to admit...it was a lot like skydiving for me...I did it once to say I did it...not sure if I will do it again. 

I decided to refinish desks for Ashton and Jackson. I found two off Craig's list. They turned out pretty good. It is amazing what new hardware does for a piece of furniture.  The kids LOVE them. Here's to a new year of homework!

A GREAT First Day

 HOORAY!

It was the first day of SECOND grade...

Could not have gone better. All smiles, lots of friends, recess was fun, loved the new school, loved the new teacher...

A great start to a new school year.

Summer Camp

 This summer went out with a BANG! The kiddos attended the last session of CSU's Youth Sport Camps. They had a BLAST this week...swimming, movies, water-fights, soccer, ice-cream...seriously...a BLAST. I can't believe next week we start school. :-(

We will definitely be attending the summer camps next year. SO FUN.

Crawdads

What a fun night at the park! There were several friends "fishing" for crawdads with fishing poles made from string with paper clip "hooks". Hot dogs served as the bait. Several crawdads in various sizes had already been caught. Jackson caught two and Ashton had some "tugs"...we are planning on going back and "fishing" some more. We had a wonderful time.



We Love Summer!

This weekend, we finally made it to the neighborhood pool. It was soooo much fun! The kids had a blast...I think we swim for at least 4 hours. The summer has FLOWN by, and been incredibly hectic with the two moves. The kids start school in one week.We are trying to have TONS of fun and make every last minute count. The kids just finished up a month of swimming lessons, and will attend day camp every day this week at CSU. We are also enjoying bike rides, walks, lots of popsicles, the park, and our last moments of freedom. Ah, summer! Why does it have to end?

The Only Girl

She was NOT happy when she realized she was the ONLY girl in the class (including the instructor, who was also male). It took some convincing for her to even go to the class! I am sure in a few years, she will LOVE this ratio.
